Angels grind out draw at Hendon

Hendon 0 Tonbridge Angels 0

Tonbridge Angels extended their unbeaten run to four games and edged closer to Ryman Premier safety with a goalless draw at Hendon.

Tommy Warrilow’s side also kept their third clean sheet in as many games and should twice have gone ahead inside the first five minutes.

First, Jamie Cade shot straight at Hendon goalkeeper Berkley Laurencin and defender Liam Harwood then found the side netting with his effort after a flowing Angels move had opened the hosts up.

Tonbridge keeper Lee Worgan was not called into action until the 36th minute, when he beat away Scott Cousins’ stinging drive.

Casey Maclaren and Tom Bryant were both lucky to stay on the field following a second-half melee and the hosts grew in confidence as they went in search of the winner.

Peter Dean hit the post seven minutes after the interval and Maclaren had a penalty shout waved away after he tumbled in the box.

James Burgess missed a good chance to seal three points for Hendon two minutes from time, with Worgan again coming to Angels’ rescue.

The draw leaves Tonbridge six points clear of the bottom four and seven points from a play-off spot, ahead of their home game against Canvey Island on Saturday.
